IXUS design
The Digital IXUS 970 IS gently curves towards
the grip for a stylish, elegant feel. The Multi
Control Dial makes it quick and simple to change
settings, review images and scroll through
menus.
10.0 Megapixels
A 10.0 Megapixel sensor captures images in fine
detail, enabling creative trimming, and poster
size printing.
5x zoom with enhanced optical Image
Stabilizer
Thanks to Canon’s advanced UA (Ultra-High
Refractive Index Aspherical) lens technology,
the Digital IXUS 970 IS has an uncompromising 5x
zoom lens but retains its compact form. The
redesigned optical Image Stabilizer system gives
a 4-stop advantage, making shots in very low
light achievable.
Motion Detection Technology
Canon’s Motion Detection Technology uses a wide
array of inputs and intelligent algorithms to
detect and compensate for camera shake and
subject movement. Part of High ISO Auto, the
system maximises image quality by only using the
minimum necessary ISO boost to combat blur.
Face Detection Technology
Face Detection Technology ensures superb people
shots by automatically setting optimum focus,
exposure, flash and white balance. Face Select
and Track lets you choose and track your primary
subject, so you never lose a special face in the
crowd.
Red-Eye Correction
Red-Eye Correction quickly and easily removes
red-eye in camera. It can be set to
automatically remove red-eye as you shoot or
during playback mode, making natural eyes easy
to achieve.
DIGIC III and iSAPS
Canon's DIGIC III processor provides lightning
quick responses, superb image quality and
advanced noise reduction for sharper, clearer
images. iSAPS technology uses shooting scene
data to optimise camera settings even before a
shot is taken.
2.5" PureColor LCD II
A high resolution 2.5" PureColor LCD II screen
has an extremely wide-angle viewing, making it
easy to share your images with a group.
Exceptional colour contrast means the screen is
visible under bright sunlight. An optical
viewfinder (OVF) extends your shooting
possibilities.
Shooting Modes and My Colors
18 shooting modes include Sunset, Kids & Pets,
and ISO 3200 Special Scene modes which optimise
camera settings for the easy capture of popular
subjects. My Colors in-camera photo effects can
be applied during or after shooting.
Movie Options
Movie modes include Long Play (LP) for VGA
(30fps) clips that use half the normal memory
card space. Capture a gradual scene like a
sunrise or blooming flowers for accelerated
